There have been growing concerns in a conspiracy theory in leaking disinformation and other influence operations in the web since the 2016 campaigns in Europe, the UK and the US. Therefore, the US National security officials warn that the US and Western politics must defend the incoming 2020 elections against repeating the same scenario. The law enforcement and intelligence officials are targeting big tech companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Google and Twitter on exploring their vulnerabilities in cybersecurity.

These big tech giants were reportedly meeting on September 4 with intelligence agencies from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Homeland Security. The meeting was held to discuss planning and coordination to reach a mutual consensus in the worldwide technology and information security aiming at the 2020 US presidential election.

The awareness in misinformation and cybersecurity of the US National security officials has definitely put a lot of pressure on these social media companies. These big tech giants have responded and claimed proper measures had been taken to quickly identify foreign interference on their social media platforms and assured to protect 2020 election campaigns from any digital attacks.
