2020 EU Annual Report on Human Rights and Democracy released on June 21, 2021. 

The introduction illustrated that the COVID-19 pandemic has made the world more challenging.  They include democracy, the rule of law and human rights issues. 

In past years, the EU has helped the world recognize that human rights is indispensable. It accepted the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy for the following five years.  The report is to watch and check the results of the action plan’s application over 2020-2024.

Applying the Action Plan is more valuable than before. During the critical time of pandemic, Europe has more opportunities to lead the world to take actions together.
