India is worried about US-Iran tense relation may damage the security of Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.  Supported by maritime patrol aircraft, the Indian Navy has deployed warships to the region on June 20, said Indian officials, to protect Indian registered ships sailing around the area.

The decision was made on the day that Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps shot down a US drone. Iran claimed that the drone had violated their airspace, while Washington had denied the accusation.

Last week, two oil tankers were hit near the Strait of Hormuz area, which is between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and through which almost 20% of the global oil travels. Washington had condemned Iran to be responsible for the incident and Iran refused the blame.
