After 3000 years, eleven Tasmanian devils were reintroduced to mainland Australia. With the help of Aussie Ark, an NGO conservation organization, Tasmanian devils have been set in the wildlife shelter in the north of Sydney. It was said that Tasmanian devils were diminished due to the arrivals of dingoes on mainland Australia before and were killed about 90% population because of Devil Facial Tumor Disease (DFTD).

Eleven Tasmanian devils are in the 1,000-acre fenced sanctuary. According to the president of Aussie Ark, Tim Faulkner, the reestablishing of Tasmanian devils in the wild of Australia would help to rebuild the balance of forest ecology. Aussie Ark hopes to release them into unprotected areas after time.

Tasmanian devils are named due to their high-pitch howl, with at least 11 different vocal calls. Besides, they are the largest carnivorous marsupials in the world. The male ones could weigh up to 12kg while females up to 8kg. According to the estimation, there are only less than 25,000 Tasmanian devils in the wild in Tasmania.
