On February 11th, a huge car accident involving 133 vehicles crashed on an icy Texas interstate took place in the southbound TEXPress lanes of Interstate 35W, leading to 6 people dead and 65 people injured.
The devastating chain reaction accident was due to overnight sleet caused by Winter Storm Shirley, which dropped freezing rain, sleet and snow and turned the Fortworth freeway into ice. Lawmakers called for a research on whether the roads were treated correctly for icy weather.
According to MedStar, an ambulance service at the scene, some healthcare workers and emergency responders such as police officers were involved in this accident, as the disaster happened at about 6 a.m., when many hospital officials and emergency workers were heading to their work.
