On the evening of May 5th, a strong fire engulfed the 48-storey Abbco Tower in Sharjah's Al Nahda area, a residential tower in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As of May 6th, more than 12 people were injured from the blaze.
Police and Civil Defence are now arranging transient housing for the residents to live in the neighboring buildings. In the meantime, local government staff and Emirates Red Crescent volunteers gave out water and juice to the tenants.
The UAE has suffered conflagrations frequently these years, even including skyscraper-studded Dubai. According to the building and safety experts, the material used for the building's sidings may not meet the stricter safety standards and is the reason for causing this fire.
