On May 27th, Airbnb issued a statement that it will not allow guests to hold parties at Airbnb rentals until the end of summer 2021, at the earliest, in order to be “really good community players” around the world.
The leading lodging company originally started the global ban on parties in August 2020, when Covid-19 cases soared and vaccines were not yet available. To further execute the party ban, Airbnb withdrew "event-friendly" in the website’s search filter and removed "parties and events allowed" sections from the house rules of available listings, during this period. Besides, the company sets up a forum for neighbors to report concerns right to Airbnb on annoying parties.
According to Brian Chesky, CEO for Airbnb, Airbnb executives realize that parties not only pose a health concern, but also create a nuisance in the neighborhood.
