According to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), an international student had been sent to jail. It was because his fraud was found and reported by “tip-off.”

The fraud’s plot is that this student had collected visa information from some foreigners in Australia. This information led to create new tax file numbers and tax returns, which is more than $117K. The amount of money was transferring to different accounts.

In the previous financial year, there were around 20K ATO tip-off cases. However 16% of them were regarded as Government’s mistakenly support measures for Covid-19.

ATO concluded that there are 5 most tip-offs categories for JobKeeper. They are employers pay every two weeks less than $1500, companies don’t reach turnover demand, unfair works, workers’ qualification and the principle of ‘one in all in’.
