Mrs. Tina Gibson, a 29-year-old elementary school teacher in Tennessee and her husband Mr. Ben Gibson, a 36-year-old cyber security analyst, have their new born baby girl setting a new record. Their baby girl, Molly Everette Gibson, was born on October 26 from a 28-year-old embryo frozen in October 1992. Molly is believed to be ever successfully delivered from the longest-frozen embryo by birth.
The Gibsons had their first daughter, Emma Wren Gibson, born in November 2017 also delivered from an embryo frozen for 24 years. Both baby girls were conducted with a Christian non-profit organization, the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC) in Knoxville, Tennessee. For more than 2 decades, NEDC has adopted more than 1,000 frozen embryos donated by in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients. Now NEDC operates about 200 transfers and births each year.
The first baby born from an embryo frozen after IVF was reportedly born in Australia in 1984. According to NEDC's estimation, there are one million frozen human embryos currently stored in the US. Molly and Emma are actual genetic siblings who were anonymously donated by their biological parents and frozen at the same time. The Gibsons had struggled with infertility for years and now the couple is sparked with joy.
