One of the largest caravans of migrants is reportedly making its way to the US-Mexico border. Most of these migrants came from Central America in the hope of escaping poverty and violence in their home countries.
This comes at a time when the border crisis has become a pressing issue for President Biden's administration, with critics blasting the White House for failing to address the ongoing immigration issues with undocumented immigrants at the border.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, migrant encounters at the border reached an all-time high of slightly more than 230,000 in April.
The unprecedented influx of migrants across the border has resulted in numerous humanitarian crises, including a lack of food, water, and healthcare.
Faced with political pressure at home, the Biden administration held a summit in Los Angeles last Wednesday with leaders of Latin American countries to demonstrate his willingness to resolve border crises.
Despite the absence of leaders from several Latin American countries, including Mexico, the summit went off without a hitch.
At the summit, the Biden administration announced more than $300 million in aid for border migrants and their home countries in an effort to alleviate some of the challenges posed by the ongoing border crises.
