On May 26, the results of the European elections 2019 showed unexpected outcomes. Voters from 28 countries elected new representatives for the European Parliament over 4 days. The Brexit Party, led by Nigel Farage, became the winner and took 31.71% of the vote in the UK. On the contrary, the traditional UK parties, inclusive of The Conservatives and Labour, suffered great losses.
The Brexit party took 29 seats, followed by the Lib Dems 16, Labour 10, and the Greens 7. Though the party was formed only six weeks ago, it gave a massive blow to the two main parties since its vote almost equals to the vote shared by the Liberal Democrats and the Labour Party combined.
Before the election, Prime Minister Theresa May had tried three times in vain to secure her Brexit plan and resigned after her fourth attempt caused a backlash. Nigel Farage said that he was ready to take on the main parties in the next general election.
