According to a recent report published on December 2nd by the United Nations humanitarian arm, UNOCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), more than 700,000 children have been affected by school closures due to conflict in Cameroon.

Nine of Cameroon's ten regions are still afflicted by one of three complicated humanitarian crises: the crisis in the North-West and South-West, violence in the Far North, and a refugee issue involving refugees escaping the Central African Republic.

A series of attacks were recorded by OCHA in the North-West. Eight students were abducted, and a girl's fingers were hacked off after she prepared to attend school.

Except for several schools in a few urban regions that ran with less than 60% occupancy, all schools and community learning spaces were shut throughout the lockdown. Due to the halt in humanitarian aid, around 200,000 individuals were deprived of food.
