This weekend, from 5 PM Friday through 5 AM Monday, gun violence has brought Chicago past 300 homicides in 2020, according to police department data.

Altogether, at least 65 people had been shot across Chicago this weekend. It was reported that 4 children were among 65 victims shot in the Chicago weekend shootings, 18 of them fatally. Meanwhile, 3 of the children were killed, including a 1-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old boy.

The motives for the weekend shootings were unclear. However, activists and local leaders have called for more state and federal support, such as federal intervention, in Chicago's escalating gun crime epidemic.
