As more than 100,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus were reported worldwide, the infectious disease has continued to spread out in Italy. On March 8, Italy locked down the entire northern region of Lombardy.

According to the latest report, 9,172 people have been infected by the coronavirus and 463 have died in Italy. It seems the infectious disease would worsen as the virus has spread exponentially in parts of northern Italy.

It has been the most severe virus control measures for Italians since World War II. It is reported more than 60 million people in Italy were locked down over Coronavirus. People were locked down under travel restrictions. In addition, public gatherings and public sports events were canceled. Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the lockdown would last until April 3, calling it Italy's darkest hour.
