The Government of Cyprus announced that it would cover the cost of “lodging, food, drink, and medication,” if the travelers test positive for the coronavirus. The only bill that visitors need to pay would be the transmission to the airport and the flight to return. The Cypriot government also prepared 100 beds in a“Covid-19 hospital” for the tourists that test positive.
Lessening the lockdown policy on May 4th, the Cypriot government expected the full restraint of COVID-19. Furthermore, Cyprus would start its hospitality businesses on June 1stand ease its management on the international flight on June 9th. It would also provide a list of countries with lightening travel constraints by June 20th.
According to the statistics from the Cypriot government, there were nearly 4 million travelers paying visits to Cyprus in 2019, which brought about $3 billion in revenues. Moreover, the tourism industry was said to account for 13% of the country’s economy. The Government of Cyprus would arrange an "epidemic risk assessment" to every country, based on the COVID-19 new cases and death every week.
