The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) published an annual report on March 25th, claiming that drug use, drug-related deaths, as well as the number of treatments for drug use problems amid the old has increased in the decade.

Besides, drug use among people over 65 has grown as well, as the world grows elder. According to the report, use of pain relievers, tranquilizers and sedatives has increased, while the old usually are undiagnosed by health professionals.

To address this “hidden epidemic”, the INCB suggested that governments speed up research on drug use among older people, and advance health and treatment services for them.
