Endless Violence Makes Afghanistan Unpeaceful

The record from the new UN report indicated that almost 3,812 Afghan civilians were killed or wounded over the first half year of 2019. International forces were the major reason to cause the casualties.

Ground raids, clashes, air strikes, and bombs are elements to cause the death and the casualty. Some of the attack were initiated by government and foreign forces. According to the report of UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), the percentage of the casualty dropped 27 percent in 2019 compared with the same period last year. Even though the casualty of percentage decreases, the unpeaceful situation still continues.

The United States is still working hard to negotiate with Afghanistan to terminate its 18-year war. In addition, the negotiation with Islamist group to follow the promise of counterterrorism with Afghan government and other parts will be the reason for the United States to withdraw the army from the country.

United States President Trump’s administration plans to stop the war in Afghanistan by the next presidential election in November 2020. According to the statement of Mike Pope, U.S Secretary of State, the Trump administration will have a plan to reduce the violence, to achieve the peace agreement, to have fewer budgets and to decrease the potential risk for more Americans to fight for this country war.

The endless violence in Afghanistan seems impossible to make the peace agreement. Barnett Rubin, a leading Afghanistan expert and a former U.S. State Department adviser supported the method to end the war by talks and also stated that every negotiation was difficult but it seems that they have no reason to give up.
