The First Lady of Brazil Tests Positive for COVID-19

According to a Brazilian official statement released on July 30, First Lady, Michelle Bolsonaro, was tested positive for COVID-19. Michelle reportedly appeared to be in good health but would follow established protocols for medical treatment.

 

Earlier Citizenship Minister Onyx Lorenzoni and Education Minister Milton Ribeiro revealed that they have COVID-19. The first lady Michelle Bolsonaro tested positive for the Coronavirus along with Brazil’s Science and Technology Minister Marcos Pontes who becomes the 5th member of President Jair Bolsonaro’s cabinet to have been infected with COVID-19.

 

President Jair Bolsonaro told reporters on July 7 he had been diagnosed with the Coronavirus and was then confined to the presidential palace in capital Brasilia for more than 2 weeks. On July 25 He announced he has recovered over his illness and tested negative. President Bolsonaro has resumed his normal work routine.

 

The COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil has surged the country with the second-highest number of infections, more than 2.6 million, and deaths, about 91,000, in the world, after the US.
