On July 6, “ring of fire” storms produced about 6 inches of torrent rains and hail which set off flash floods in U.S. (Philadelphia area) and submerged vehicles, closed roads, resulting in numerous water rescues.
U.S. National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency for Philadelphia and surrounding regions in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
The storms also brought down trees throughout the area. Trees crashed down onto utility lines causing widespread power outages and damage. The storms moved out and floodwaters gradually receded by the evening of July 6 while cleanup continued for local residents.
