On April 29, the Florida House passed Senate Bill 700. It is a comprehensive measure prohibiting municipal governments from utilizing a water quality additive for anything other than meeting drinking standards, improving water quality, or removing contaminants. The House voted 88-27.

Fluoride has come under heightened scrutiny as a result of the influence of US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. Kennedy is putting the government's wheels in motion to end fluoridation of water.

In March, Utah became the first state to ban fluoride in public drinking water. Utah's prohibition takes effect on May 7. The bill now heads to Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature. If it passes, Florida will become the second state to ban fluoride in municipal drinking water.
