On March 18, Google’s parent company Alphabet announced plans to buy cybersecurity firm Wiz Inc. for $32 billion. The transaction is easily the largest in Google history. The deal strengthens Google's cloud business as it competes with rival digital behemoths such as Microsoft and Amazon.

Wiz was released in 2020. Its yearly recurring revenue surpassed $100 million two years later. And it exceeded $700 million recently. The software helps companies fix vulnerabilities in their cloud environments, stop cyberattacks, and secure developers' code. The company claims that its cybersecurity platform is used by more than half of the Fortune 100.

Google acquired cybersecurity company Mandiant for $5.4 billion in 2022. Google struck a deal to acquire hardware manufacturer Motorola for $12.5 billion in 2012. In 2014, the corporation sold the assets acquired from the deal to Lenovo for $2.9 billion. Google recently ended conversations about acquiring sales software maker HubSpot.
