A Hantavirus Case Reported in China

During the critical of COVID-19, a confirmed death of Hantavirus was reported in Yunnan province of China. This is a disease spread by rodents. However, people around the world should not be panic for another pandemic. 

 

According to the Global Times, a local English-Chinese news outlet, a man died on his way back to his hometown, Shandong province, by bus. He was tested positive for Hantavirus. Therefore, the other 32 passengers were tested. 

 

Recently, the globe has concentrated on the coronavirus because of its uncertainty. According to the data of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from 1993 to 2017, the confirmed cases of Hantavirus were only 728 in the United States. Most of them were not the fatal cases. Therefore, there is no specific notification to begin another pandemic of Hantavirus. 

 

Based on the resources of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cases of Hantavirus are rare. Rodents’ urine, dropping, or salvia are the resources of infections. 

 

The website of U.S. CDC shows that it is rare for Hantavirus to have person to person transmission in the United States. Rare cases of person-to-person transmission have happened in Chile and Argentina. 

 

This Hantavirus cases reported at the critical time during the COVID-19. Currently, the death toll of COVID-19 is more than 3,277 people in Chia. Up to now, United States has confirmed at least 86,012 cases of coronavirus. based on the resources of John Hopkins University.
