The US House of Representatives has demanded an investigation to figure out whether the experiment with ticks and other insects in the Department of Defense was the root to spread the Lyme disease or the way to start the biological warfare.

The amendment passed last week. The House required the inspector general of Department of Defense to review any experiments related with ticks and other insects between the years of 1950 and 1975.

Chris Smith, a Republican Congressman from New Jersey, was the one who wrote the amendment. Mr. Smith was inspired by many articles and books to write the amendment. Books and articles mentioned that major researches done in the United States facilities including Maryland, Plum Island, and New York turn tick and other insects into bioweapons.

The amendment also stated that if the experiment did happen, the government should provide the report to the public to explain any possible laboratory or experiment design to release the ticks and other insects to cause the root of disease.

A new book, Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons, published in May to confirm that the Defense Department actually conducted a research related to the biological war. Besides, the author Kris Newby also claimed that the infectious disease caused by ticks and other insects was highly related to the experiment and the spread of Lyme disease.

Each year almost 30,000 cases of Lyme disease were reported to the Centers of Disease Control. Mr. Smith mentioned that Americans should have the right to know the truth since the Lyme disease exploded in the United States.
