India is struggling to fight against the never-ending battle of COVID-19. The confirmation cases of COVID-19 are increasing daily. The threat of COVID-19 still exists, while a new challenge is coming. 

In early May, doctors in India indicated warning of a new disease called mucormycosis. It is also called black fungus with a potentially deadly infection. Confirmed patients of COVID-19 should be aware of black fungus. In the latest report, patients with confirmed COVID-19 will increase the opportunity to have black fungus. Doctors mentioned that the treatment of COVID-19, steroid, might be the reason to cause black fungus. Patients with weakened immune system or patients with certain disease, like diabetes, all have the chances to get infected with mucormycosis. 

Several types of fungi can cause this disease. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), these fungi are not a serious threat to most people, but they will be a serious threat to patients with a weakened immune system. Syndromes of black fungus include chest pain, discoloration of eyes, and difficulty of breath. Doctors say that in some cases, removing eyes or parts of jaw are ways to end the spreading of the disease.

About 7,200 cases had been reported; most of the cases were patients with diabetes or with a weakened immune system. The spread of black fungus was fast. The drug of treatment was in shortage, and another disease happened. Experts predicted that Modi government will face the third wave of coronavirus.
