Stephen Rubin has been reported by the Sunday Times as the highest taxpayer in UK. He is the JD Sports Owner, paying £181.6m taxes in 2017-18.
There are more than 50 taxpayers in UK paying over £12m each to HMRC in 2017-18. The highest taxpayers also include owners of bet365, second on the list paying £156m, and Sir James Dyson, the founder of Dyson, contributes £127.8m in the third place. Besides, the famous Beckham family features the 50 top taxpayers list with a £12.7m tax bill.
It’s noticed that only 28 out of 145 billionaires in UK appear on the top 50 list, since some celebrities are based overseas and are not liable to the tax in UK. What’s more, Sir James Dyson, as the third highest taxpayer, has recently declared that he will move the headquarters of his company to Asia.
