In the evening of August 20th, Joe Biden has formally accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president of the US during his speech. Taking place from August 17th to 20th 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET each night, the Democratic National Convention 2020 looked pretty much different from previous years, since it was an all-virtual convention, with speakers delivering their remarks in different areas all over the USA, instead of meeting in Milwaukee as primarily planned.
Former first lady Michelle Obama ended the first DNC night with a strong and powerful condemnation on Donald Trump's presidency, while it was long-time educator Jill Biden, Joe Biden’s wife, who closed the second night. Although not mentioning President Trump, Bill Biden’s speech emphasized how Joe Biden understood and cared about the pain people are facing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which is clearly different from President Trump.
Former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton denounced Trump as a failed president in the third night, then it came to the party’s first Black and South Asian woman vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris' speech, in which she discussed issues about immigration, climate change and gun violence.
In the fourth and final night of DNC 2020, Joe Biden gave a speech to accept the party’s presidential nomination, in which he promised to represent all of the people in the USA, not just Democratic and he will “be an ally of the light, not the darkness.
