Macau govt surplus to May despite gaming tax dip

The Macau government gathered about MOP 21.04 billion (US$2.64 billion) in tax revenue from gaming industry from Jan. to May in 2020. 

 

The revenue is 56.5% lower than the same period of last year, according to city’s Financial Services Bureau. It shows the collected tax from gaming industryuntil now was 42.1% amount budget of the whole year.

 

The government also forecasted gaming tax collection no less thanMOP 4.16 billion monthly. Meanwhile the full-year estimation goes to around MOP 49.98 billion.

 

The Macau government indicated that the lack of MOP 38.95 billion in 2020was caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
