The weather forecaster had announced 2 weather warnings for ice in effect for February 25 and later updated these warnings to an ice and snow warning across large portions in the UK. Subsequently, on February 26, the weather forecaster extended the warning further east to cover much of the UK.
The weather turned out with showers as a mixture of rain, hail, and snow on February 25 and 26. The rains left much of the UK towns under serious flood warnings. Still, flooding has reached the critical point in many towns of the UK as flood defenses failing. People living in these towns are inevitably needing emergency evacuations.
After days of heavy rain, West Mercia Police reportedly carried out an immediate emergency evacuation in part of Ironbridge in the Shropshire town due to barriers on the wharf were shifted back several feet as rising waters on the River Severn. Earlier residents of Bewdley in Worcestershire were evacuated from their homes.
The Balonne River at St George in Queensland's southern inland was predicted to reach its peak at 12.3 meters. Luckly there was reportedly no damage to any houses under an emergency declaration for the town. Meanwhile, authorities have put Dirranbandi on the alert as it is expected a few days before the flood reaches there.
