During the monsoon season, usually June to September, monsoon rains pummel South Asia. Reportedly, flooding in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, and Nepal has killed scores of people, destroyed homes and villages, and threatened South Asia’s agrarian economy.

So far, floods have killed 77 people and up to 2 million people have been impacted by flooding in Assam, India. People were sheltered from brutal monsoon while it was devastating coronavirus-ravaged villages.

As commonly known, a torrent of heavy monsoon rain is a yearly occurrence in South Asia, resulting in floods and landslides which often force residents to flee their homes leaving behind their belongings. Around the same time in 2019, 600 people were killed and 25 million were stranded or displaced, because of the torrential monsoon rains, as devastating floods ravaged Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, and Nepal.
