According to the United Nation’s The Global Report on Food Crises, 2020, published on April 21st, over 265 million people are on the brink of starvation by the end of this year, due to COVID-19 crisis, nearly doubling last year's total.
The report warned that the food price rises from 2007 to 2008 may repeat again, triggering political turbulence extensively, across the Middle East countries and from Asia to Latin America.
The World Food Programme (WFP) advised the world leaders to raise two billion dollars to provide assistance and resources to the frontline, the defenseless countries facing the attack of COVID-19 pandemic.
People in Yemen, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Nigeria and Haiti are most at risk of hunger, among which, people in Yemen, The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Afghanistan occupied a third of those facing a food crisis.
