NASA and NOAA unveiled the Earth’s average surface temperature in 2018 was the 4th highest in almost 140 years, since the global warming trend in correlation with increasing levels of greenhouse gases like methane and carbon dioxide caused by human activity was not stopped.
Director Gavin Schmidt of Goddard Institute for Space Studies of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Chief Deke Ardnt of the Global Monitoring Branch of National Centers for Environmental Information of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have independently monitored the Earth's surface temperatures and changes based on observations of both lands and oceans by means of a network of orbiting satellites. Those scientists released their updates on Earth’s climate in 2018’s global temperatures and discussed the Earth's 2018 global temperatures and climate conditions in a teleconference on February 6.
Besides, organizations like Berkeley Earth, the United Kingdom’s Hadley Centre, and the Japan Meteorological Agency have also come to the same conclusion and ranked 2018 among the five warmest years on record in the 4th place.
