As the second largest employer in the U.S., Amazon announced on October 1st that its 19,816 U.S. first-line workers at Amazon and its biggest subsidiary Whole Foods have had confirmed or presumptive cases of COVID-19.
A few months later, after several Amazon warehouse workers’ death due to coronavirus, the e-commerce giant finally shed light on the influence of the pandemic to its employees, considering the pressure calling for transparency from Amazon employees and some labor groups.
The data was analyzed from March 1st to September 19th, aiming at the over 1.3 million U.S. workers at Amazon and Whole Foods. Amazon pointed out that the infection rate was well below that of the general population in the U.S.
