Australian Taxation Office (ATO) points out the growth of unclaimed expenses of deduction due to COVID-19 this year. According tosurvey by Officeworks, one in three Australians are working from home. They need to purchase and prepare equipment to upgrade their home office. Therefore ATO expects the increase of deductions this year.

Generally unclaimed expenses should be $10 billion during a financial year. However due to the pandemic's outbreak and new lifestyle, ATO predicts the great increaseand suggests a "shortcut method." The taxpayers can remember to claim easily and correctly by keeping the working hour record.

COVID-19 also brings about the reduction of working hours, income lost, and unemployment. That’s why ATO indicates the decline of “claims for laundry or travel expenses this year.”
