Teachers in Ontario of Canada are planning to hold another strike on Wednesday this week as the tensions continue to rise. The strike is planned to involved nine school boards within Ontario.
Last Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2019) approximately 55,000 OSSTF members joined the strike, which affected 628,000 students out of school.
Ontario parents are seeking for response from government regarding compensation, mandatory e-learning, and increasing class sizes.
OSSTF president Harvey Bischof stated, “even after it was confirmed that the government’s public consultations reveal overwhelming opposition to Doug Ford’s education agenda, the government is still refusing to engage in serious discussions about mandatory e-learning, class size, staffing, or any other issue that affects the learning environments in our schools.”
As of Friday (Dec. 6, 2019), no negotiations were scheduled between the province and the OSSTF.
