The administration of US president Trump was requested to turn over Donald Trump's tax returns by Richard Neal, Chairman of House Ways and Means Committee. However, Trump dismissed the request for tax returns, saying that was a politically-motivated action.
Although the Committee submitted a request for the president’s six-year returns from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), Donald Trump, unlike every US president since 1976, rejected to publish the details of his tax. He insisted that there was no rule requiring it.
The Democrats obtained control over the House of Representatives after last year’s mid-term elections, which made them able to launch investigations into administration and personal affairs of Donald Trump. Mr. Trump’s lawyers claimed that it was a "harassment" to ask for the president’s tax returns, and that legal action might be taken in the future.
