Due to an increase in COVID-19 infections after China relaxed its tight "zero-Covid" policy, several nations are placing restrictions on travelers from China. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated on December 30th that additional evidence is required in order to assess the most recent increase in COVID-19 infections in China, but deemed the widespread worry and escalation of travel restrictions to be "understandable".
On January 8, China will reopen its borders to the outside world after a three-year closure.
After the revelation that tourists from China must undergo COVID testing by Italy, Japan, Taiwan, and India, the United States announced on December 28 that starting on January 5, visitors from China, Hong Kong, and Macau must also undergo COVID testing. However, there are no new regulations for Chinese travelers visiting Australia and the United Kingdom.
