Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, July 11, 2019, Saudi Arabia is planning to ease travel restrictions for women.

Many Saudi Arabian women fled the country complaining about the guardianship law. Under the original system, Saudi Arabian women need a male guardian to provide permission for them if they want to work, to get married, or even to travel. Though most of the provisions remain, the restriction on the travel part will be altered.

A Saudi royal family member believes there is no question that the leadership, the government, and the people wan to see this system changed. Once passed, the plan would no longer restrict women over 18 years old to travel alone, as well as leaving the country without permission of a guardian.
