South Korea Reports 142 New Coronavirus Cases, Total 346

Up to February 22nd, there are 142 additional cases of the coronavirus in South Korea, leading the total number of infections to 346, and 2 of them are dead, according to Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

 

Among the 142 new infection, 92 cases have been traced to Daenam Hospital in Cheongdo County, where the two deaths took place in South Korea. 

 

Besides, 38 of the new infection cases of COVID-19 are related to the debatable Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a minor Christian sect in the southeastern city of Daegu, the fourth-largest city in South Korea, beginning with a 61-year-old woman who got fever on February 10th but participated in at least four church events in Daegu before diagnosis. 

 

On February 21st, Daegu and its neighboring county Cheongdo were nominated by the government of South Korea as “special care zones”.
