Sports Rules Never Supersede Human Rights – Rule 50

After the hitting of Jacob Blake, athletes were in boycotting major sporting events in the past few days. They told the world athletic careers are not higher than equity and social justice.

Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter is to protect sport and the Olympic Games neutrality. However, it is not allowed any kinds of propaganda in anywhere that Olympic Games held, or otherwise it will be considered to be a violation of right to freedom of expression.

However, athletes’ actions indicate that there is something more important than sport, and sport rules could never replace human rights. And they call on the Olympics and Paralympics to cancel Rule 50.2 right away.
