Starbucks reversed its open-door policy, which was put in place in 2018, after nearly seven years. The coffee giant now requires customers to make a purchase in order to use its coffee shops or restrooms.

The new policy will go into effect on January 27. It will be prominently displayed in all stores and will include a detailed code of conduct. It prohibits discrimination, harassment, outside alcohol consumption, smoking, vaping, drug usage, and panhandling.
