Tata Steel announced on May 23 that the family of a COVID-19 deceased employee could receive his last drawn wage until the age of 60. Tata Steel, one of India's leading steel manufacturing companies, would also cover the education expenses of the COVID-19 deceased employee's children until they graduate, in addition to medical benefits and residential accommodations.

Tata Steel, headquartered in Jamshedpur and employing approximately 65,000 people, announced on Twitter that it will extend its social security schemes to the family members of employees affected by the COVID-19. Tata Steel would assist the families of employees who died as a result of the COVID-19 disease in any way possible to help them get through these difficult times.

India has over 27 million COVID-19 infection cases and 300,000 deaths, making it the world's third-largest COVID-19 infection country, trailing only the United States and Brazil. In the aftermath of India's disastrous second wave of the coronavirus, Tata Steel's plan was widely praised on social media. Tata Steel plans to expand its social security programs to assist COVID-19 deceased employees and their families in maintaining a decent standard of living.
