A federal court judge in New York of US has ruled against President Trump, who is seeking to block a subpoena of his tax returns for 8 years from 2011 to 2018, in a case brought upon by the Manhattan District Attorney.

In a challenge to Trump’s case in which the President himself believes is immune from any criminal investigation, the court ruling concluded that the 8 years of his personal and corporate tax returns must be provided to the Manhattan prosecutors.

To counter the ruling, the President’s lawyers appealed to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, which granted the President a temporary period of withholding the release of his tax returns as the court hears the arguments of the case.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance initiated the subpoena on Trump’s accounting firm, Mazars USA, as part of a criminal probe into the President’s businesses and dealings.

In response to the judge’s ruling, the president took to Twitter and said, “A thing like this has never happened to any president before. Not even close!”

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals will hear the arguments as early as October 21st, while the hold on enforcement of federal court’s ruling remains.
