A 17-page document reportedly titled “Guidance for Implementing the Opening Up America Again Framework” was created by the public health agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC guidance was supposed to be published on May 3, but reportedly Trump administration rejected recommendations from the nation’s top disease investigators and authorities on how and when to reopen the US amid Coronavirus crisis.

The details in the rejected CDC guidance were disclosed to the press by one of the federal officials on the condition of anonymity. The guidance was categorized into step-by-step detailed advice on child care programs, schools and day camps, communities of faith, employers with vulnerable workers, restaurants and bars, and mass transit administrators for reopening in phases through different scenarios.

The press is not authorized to release the rejected CDC guidance as the Trump administration has been closely controlling the release of any guidance and information during the Coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, the White House seems to encourage state governments to implement the COVID-19 response as President Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized the need to quickly reopen the US economy.
