The United Nations declared October 1 as International Day of Older Persons in 1990. "Digital Equality for All Ages," the theme of the International Day of Older Persons 2021, is critical.
The agenda reminds us that as the world celebrates the United Nations International Day of Older Persons in 2021, literacy and access must go hand in hand with digital awareness training for older people. For example, as scammers become more sophisticated, most of us are naturally concerned about digital security; however, the average age of those who have been scammed is significantly lower than that of older people.
It is necessary to take a life-course approach to developing, strengthening, and maintaining digital literacy in today's fast-changing digital environment in order to achieve digital literacy and digital access. Furthermore, tailored peer-to-peer or cross-generational training programs to promote digital literacy and close digital skill gaps in the elderly are essential.
