Brad Ryan, an American veterinarian, has a travel plan to visit 61 United States National Park with his grandmother, Joy.

The initial plan of this journey was that Ryan shared his interesting trips with his grandmother. His grandma told him that she never ever had any chances to sightseeing mountains and oceans. Ryan felt so sorrowful when he noticed the truth. He decided to help his grandma to have as many road trips as possible with his grandma to create countless memories.

According to the report of CBS, grandma Joy was 85 years old. She widowed for almost 20 years. Two of her three children died in their 40s. She worked so hard to balance her life expenses. Based on the previous reasons, she rarely had savings for travel plans.

Ryan had a terrible experience with his friends who finished the life without any notifications. He noticed that we should seize the day to cherish every moment we had every day. This motivated Ryan to have the road trip with his grandmother.

With the limited budget, they started their journey in 2005 and visited the first national park in their list, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Up to now, they have visited 29 national parks, including Grand Canyon National Park, Acadia National Park, Badlands National Park, and so on.

Ryan and Grandma Joy created Grandma Joy’s Road Trip Facebook page to share their road trip story with everyone. Besides, they also have the “Grandma Joy’s Road Trip” on GoFundMe page to fund-raise for the budget.

Trips continue. The next visiting locations would be in Hawaii and Alaska.
