Parents with children will benefit from the IRS’s new child tax credit rules in response to the pandemic’s difficulties. Compared to the previous $2,000 refund, in 2021, qualified parents will be able to receive at most $3,600 for their children.
The rules categorize the qualification based on children’s age. The check for children under 6 is $3,600, while for those between age 6 and 17 is $3,000. As to newborn babies in 2021, their schedule and check numbers vary according to the birth dates.
Then how to apply this rule? Offer both you and your child’s identification of US citizens and Social Security numbers. Also, you need to file tax return for 2021. Finally, pay attention to your child’s age on Dec. 31, 2021 and make sure it falls into the available age range.
