Congressional Democrats had the meeting with United States President Trump on April 30. After the meeting, Democrats said it was a fruitful meeting and announced an agreement to spend $2 trillion on the improvement of infrastructure repairs.

Chuck Schumer stated that this was a long-term plan to invest in the infrastructure. The plan included the improvement of roads, bridges, highways and also water system improvement. Besides, broadband and the power grid were also discussed so as to send the clean energy to the whole country.

One of the major issues is to collect the fund to executive the infrastructure repairs plan. Before the meeting with President Trump, Democrats had the argument about various methods of fund-raising, especially the increase of the gasoline tax. The nation’s top business group and labor unions agreed on the increase of the gasoline tax because the last time to increase the tax of gasoline was in 1993. Currently, the gasoline tax is 18.3 cent per gallon.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wrote the letter to Trump about the outline of the discussion and also stated that this infrastructure repair plan would be big enough to make our countries great and to benefit all Americans.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway stated that President Trump was not the person to increase the tax. One of the reliable sources also warned Schumer that President Trump would not easily have any chance to ruin the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and that he should not propose a plan including the raise of tax on the struggling poor and working family. They will meet again in three weeks to discuss the further details about this plan.
