According to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s statement announced on October 14th, one out of every four adults and four out of every five teenagers nowadays do not get enough physical activity.

Based on WHO guidelines, adults should engage in 150 to 300 minutes of moderate to intense aerobic activity each week. Children and teenagers should exercise for 60 minutes every day on average.

WHO figures showed that women are less active than men globally, with a difference of more than 8%. (32% for men, just 23% for women). In comparison to middle-income (26%) and low-income countries (16%), high-income countries (37%) have a higher percentage of inactive persons.

The UN health agency pointed out that up to five million premature deaths may be averted each year if people are more active. WHO urged decision-makers in the health, sport, education, and transportation sectors to urgently increase the availability of more inclusive programs and services, as well as safer environments that encourage physical activity in all communities.
