Iranian and Indian researchers studied the use of a new type of polymer in the production of zinc oxide nanoparticles with homogenous size distribution.
This method is simple and efficient and does not require complicated devices and equipment. The study has been carried out at laboratorial scale.
In general, production of nanoparticles is very complicated and a wide range of variables can affect the properties of the final products. Obtaining dispersed nanoparticles and the ability to control their structure are very important in the production of zinc oxide nanoparticles. These objectives can be reached by creating an appropriate coating or stabilizing agent in the production process.
In this research, a new polymer was tested and studied in order to control the size of particles in the synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles. In fact, laboratorial studies resulted in the synthesis, characterization and investigation of cellular toxicity in zinc oxide nanoparticles on a bed of polyethyleneimene (PEI). Results can be used in the introduction of simple and effective methods for the synthesis of nanoparticles.
Cellular toxicity test on Neuro2A showed that the synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles, which have an average size of 25 nanometers, do not have cellular toxicity up to about 6.25 micrograms per milliliter; therefore, these nanoparticles can be used in applied medical studies.
