In response to the National Marine Fisheries Service’s release yesterday on the Dolphin Protection Consumer Information Act, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) issued the following statement from Bill Fox, vice president of fisheries:
“WWF commends the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) on the release of the interim final rule to revise regulations implementing the Dolphin Protection Consumer Information Act. Yesterday’s action will increase the effectiveness of the program, simplify the rules to ensure that every tuna fishery has the same certification and will help bolster depleted dolphin populations as they rebuild.”
